Can a building that housed the Central Jail convert into a monument that stands for freedom of expression. The Freedom Park in Bangalore is one such building. It is illustrated by a water colour sketch on this memorabilia mug.
The Freedom Park was made famous by Anna Hazare, but it was originally the Bangalore Central Jail. It was converted to a park with plans to include a museum, retail space, performance space among other features. Out of the twenty acres of the original Central Jail premise, five acres was provided for holding dharna's and protests without affecting city traffic.
