Perspective for difficult moments, from people who’ve been there.
been there is a curated platform for perspective, where experienced professionals help people navigate the emotional and practical challenges of work through thoughtful conversations.
Why it matters
Difficult boss? Sunday evening anxiety? Feeling stuck in your career? Wondering whether you should quit or stay? If even one of these feels familiar, you're not alone. Almost everyone who has spent enough time in the corporate world has faced moments that leave them confused, frustrated, anxious, or simply unsure of what to do next.
- Difficult boss?
- Sunday-evening anxiety?
- Not invited to a meeting you thought you should be in?
- Does it feel like your boss has favourites?
- Someone else getting credit for your work?
- Passed over for an opportunity without knowing why?
- Feeling stuck in your career?
- Wondering whether you should quit or stay?
Some of these moments may look small from the outside. But when you’re living through them, they can leave you replaying conversations, questioning your judgement, and feeling unsure about what to do next. If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone.
It can be difficult to see a situation clearly when you’re in the middle of it. been there connects you with experienced professionals who understand these moments because they’ve lived through them.
They begin by listening—really listening. Without judgement, without an agenda, and without a stake in what you decide.
Unlike your boss, colleagues, HR, friends, or even family, they aren’t part of your situation. That distance allows them to offer what leadership expert Ronald Heifetz calls a “balcony view”: a calm, objective perspective that can be difficult to find when you’re in the middle of the action.
Because sometimes, the most reassuring words you can hear are,
“I’ve been there.”
How it works
You’ll have a private, one-to-one online conversation with an experienced professional who understands difficult moments at work because they have navigated them too.
We call them Perspective Guides. They are carefully selected professionals who listen without judgement, help you step back from the immediate situation, and offer perspective shaped by lived experience.
Perspective Guides are not therapists or counsellors. Their role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you see your situation more clearly and decide what feels right for you.
Your time matters, and so does the time and experience of our Perspective Guides. been there is a paid one-to-one service designed to offer thoughtful perspective when you need it most.
